Poor boy!

Tuesday we had some special visitors at our house. Aunt Marsha, Uncle Scott, and their son Sam were all here. The kids were playing with Marsha and having so much fun. Will had a couple of swords and was running upstairs and slipped. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but the results were ugly!
Initially, I thought his bottom tooth had cut through his lip. I took him into the immediate care and while in the waiting room began to think it wasn't as bad as I originally thought. (He had finally calmed down enough to let me look at it). Thankfully, the mother of one of Elizabeth's good friends was working and took us back and cleaned him up. We both agreed it didn't go all the way through so I bought some cream for him and brought him home. (Thankfully I avoided the 3-hour wait!)
Will is pretty self-conscious of his appearance and does not like this fat lip. He came home early from school yesterday and went in a little late today, but I think it's starting to feel better. The good news? Bruce was nowhere near Will when this injury occurred.

Teenager in the House!!!

Aaron told Justin a few weeks ago that we weren't going to be celebrating his birthday this year, and not for the next seven years because he didn't want a teenager in the house! Not only do we have a teenager in the house, but we will for the next 17 years! In fact, in six years we'll have four in the house so get ready for a fun ride!
Justin had a few of his friends over Saturday night for pizza and then they watched "Real Steel" in 3D. I love how his friends don't mind the younger kids being around, or at least they were pretty good at tolerating them!
I found this ice cream cake on pinterest. Justin wanted me to make it. It was a huge hit and it's pretty easy to make. Win, win! (The recipe can be found here).
It's all downhill for me from here. I think I still have him by at least an eighth of an inch. Better get used to it because they'll probably all pass me up. Well, maybe not Naomi. She's our short one!
Elizabeth made this sign for Justin

Here was Justin on his first day of Kindergarten. I can remember that day like it was yesterday!

Here are 13 things we love about you, Justin:
  • curious mind
  • Amazon skills (buying and selling - he even has his own account)
  • great student
  • self-motivated and responsible with his scouting
  • so cute with his little sisters
  • very good with money
  • good example for younger siblings
  • when I'm overwhelmed and stressed, he tries to calm the kids
  • adapts easily
  • avid reader
  • motivated - already planning for college
  • loyal friend
  • eats almost anything I make and usually likes it (except nuts or broccoli)

Solo and Ensemble Contest

Today Elizabeth played the piano in a music contest at a local high school. She has had a couple of concerts recently, but I think she was pretty nervous to be playing in front of a judge. She did great! As a side note, no, she does not color her hair. Doesn't it have pretty highlights in these pictures? Just an observation...
She earned a gold medal!

Love Notes

Last night when we sat down for dinner, Bruce had a note like this for every member in our family at their plate. He writes them all the time. I love how he is very clear about who he is writing the note to. Usually he requests we circle "yes" or "no". Yes, Bruce, we do love you!

Happy 100th Day!

Today Bruce celebrated the 100th day of school in style! He had lots of fun activities which he loved. This morning he told me that there's only 80 days of school left! I'm normally anxious for the school year to be over and be done with homework and tight schedules. Right now I'm thinking another 80 days doesn't sound so bad.
Will wanted to pose with his poster of the "walkingstick" insect. He was able to become an expert on this fascinating little insect. He worked on a group presentation and was very proud of their hard work.

Wacky Wednesday

Today Madelyn was excited to dress up for Wacky Wednesday at pre-school. Naomi wanted ponytails all over her head too, but we didn't have time. You can tell she was pretty excited!
