We love our Sunday afternoon naps! Unfortunately, we don't always get them. Today, however, was the perfect day for a little nap. The kids were all laying on our bed watching old family movies (a favorite pastime) and Aaron and Naomi fell asleep together. The kids all went downstairs after the movie and Aaron and Naomi continued to sleep like this for the rest of their nap. How sweet!

Sunday afternoon siesta

Ed Com Expo
Yesterday Justin and Elizabeth both participated in the Ed Com Expo for the entire school district at the high school. Their classes both had presentations. Justin's class presented world cultures. Justin's group had a small presentation on Asia. He really had a lot of fun preparing for this display
Elizabeth's class presented on insects. Hers was really cute and obviously well planned. There were about eight students from her class, each showcasing a different insect. Elizabeth was thrilled to be the one chosen to present cockroaches! They have had cockroaches in the classroom all year as their "class pet" so she has become rather fond of them. We can't believe this is our daughter who is so timid - actually holding - and enjoying cockroaches! The judge suggested to her that she sneak a couple of them home and put them in her brother's beds. Had it been her brother receiving the suggestion, this might have happened. Just what we need!

What are the chances?
I think we've had more than our fair share of thumbsuckers in this family. Justin and Elizabeth both took a pacifier, but we've been all thumbs ever since. Will sucked his until he was about three and a half and cut his thumb in the door. (He still sneaks in an occasional suck!) Bruce still sucks his thumb, but mostly just at night or while watching tv. Madelyn was a thumbsucker for a year - it was perfect - no lasting effects, but made for a very content baby. Within minutes of me commenting to Aaron two weeks ago that Naomi doesn't seem to be interested in her thumb, I walked into the room to see her sucking her thumb! She hasn't picked it up full-time, but she seems to be headed there. Anyone know a good orthodontist?
Raingutter Regatta Race
This year our Cub Scout leaders decided to have the boys race these little boats instead of the traditional Pinewood Derby cars. It ended up being such a fun night! The leaders had these fun hats for everyone to make out of newspapers and a kiddy pool set up for the younger siblings to play in with some little homemade styrofoam boats. It was a huge success! Oh, and the banana splits served in little boats at the end topped this perfect evening off.
What was great about the Raingutter Regatta is that the boys participate more than simply setting their car on a track and watching it go down. They had to blow through a straw to "race" their boats. Justin's Primary teacher was there and told me she wasn't at all surprised Justin was the winner because he's the one with the most hot air in her class. He was beaming when he accepted his trophy. This will be his last year to participate in Cub Scouts so it was very fun to watch him win this year.

Crazy busy weekend
Last weekend Justin had his last basketball game of the season and I falsely assumed life would slow down a bit for a few weeks or at least until soccer starts. It certainly didn't happen yesterday. This was our day:
10:00 baby shower
12:00-2:00 Neighbor girl's birthday party for Will and Bruce
2:00 Baptism at church
4-5:30 Birthday party for boy at church (whole family)
5:30-8:30 Benefit dinner for family at church (Aaron helped)
Yes, it was a busy day. In addition to this, somehow we managed to do usual Saturday chores, four loads of laundry, and prepare for a potluck after church today! I said something to Aaron about three minutes after we went to bed, but he was already sound asleep. Poor Naomi was so fussy last night after being on the go all day. I think I'm ready for Monday and our regular schedule tomorrow. How was your weekend?

Easter Dress Nostalgia
I bought these Easter dresses for Elizabeth and Madelyn the year Madelyn was born. Here they are together when Madelyn was about five months old.
The dress is now getting a little short on Elizabeth, but she was happy, nonetheless, to wear the dress again and match her new little sister, Naomi. Naomi is about seven weeks old in this picture. She's obviously a much bigger baby than Madelyn was, but still very cute!
