Raingutter Regatta Race

This year our Cub Scout leaders decided to have the boys race these little boats instead of the traditional Pinewood Derby cars. It ended up being such a fun night! The leaders had these fun hats for everyone to make out of newspapers and a kiddy pool set up for the younger siblings to play in with some little homemade styrofoam boats. It was a huge success! Oh, and the banana splits served in little boats at the end topped this perfect evening off.

What was great about the Raingutter Regatta is that the boys participate more than simply setting their car on a track and watching it go down. They had to blow through a straw to "race" their boats. Justin's Primary teacher was there and told me she wasn't at all surprised Justin was the winner because he's the one with the most hot air in her class. He was beaming when he accepted his trophy. This will be his last year to participate in Cub Scouts so it was very fun to watch him win this year.

We were going to do this when I was in the scouts with the bears. Not sure what changed it back to derby cars, but the boys loved it this year! Way to go Justin
